Join Associate Professor Sue Bennett from the University of Wollongong, for a seminar reporting on an investigation of how Australian university and school teachers approach the routine work of designing learning experiences for their students.
Education-IEC Seminar Series – Investigating Teachers’ Design Practices
When: October 28 2014, 1pm-2pm
Where: C5C Forum
Registration: Please let Christine Borbely (firstname.lastname@example.org) know if you are attending for catering purposes.
The presentation will cover the rationale and conceptual framing for this work, before presenting the results of a series of studies. The results reveal how teachers conceive their design work, the basis for the decisions they make and the resources they draw on. By better understanding how teachers approach this aspect of their work and what influences their decisions, it may be possible to design supports that teachers can use to improve their practices and, in turn, the resulting designs. The presentation will close by considering the scope of future research and implications for practice and policy.
Professor Bennett is an editor of the Australasian Journal of Educational Technology and a keen member of ASCILITE. She is the holder of several grants that explore the role technologies can support as teachers plan and adapt to new forms of communication and explanation.
